I grew up in a suburb of Detroit, Michigan. My mom was a science teacher and always brought home animals from her classroom for the summer. As a child, my brother and I played with the critters in the yard, creek and neighborhood lake. When I was in 7th grade, my career day project was about being a veterinarian. After that I was hooked.
I graduated Michigan State University in 1995 with a B.S. in Behavioral Zoology. I was a field biology and research journeyman for about 3 years, living and working in several different states. I had jobs with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in Oregon, University of Miami in Florida, University of Missouri, and even trained dolphins and sea lions at the Miami Seaquarium. I worked in computer support for 5 years, then went back to school and graduated in 2003 from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in St. Kitts, finishing my clinical year at the University of Minnesota. I received additional exotic medical training at externships with the Indianapolis Zoo and the Wildlife Safari in Oregon. I have been working at Krebs, Kohler and Minnix since mid-2004 and bought the practice in late-2010. I really enjoy working with dogs, cats and exotic pets.
My wife Tracy and I have two young children Nathan and Samantha. We have a golden retriever named Zoey, a Samoyed named Gryphon, and a Persian named Loki.
